Utah adds the number of bonus or preference points together for all hunters in a group and then divides that by the number of hunters. That number will then be rounded down and is the number of points the application will go into the draw with. For example, a group of 3 applicants with 7, 8, and 10 points would go into the draw with 8pts (7+8+10=25/3=8.33 rounded down to 8)
Going in as a group does have the potential to decrease your odds because Utah will not over-allocate permits. Meaning, if your group application is drawn for the last permit available for any given hunt, they will reject that application because there are not enough permits for the applicants in the group.
