We determine the number of “expected” nonresident tags (how many tags would nonresidents draw on average if there was no cap) and then use that to figure out how far to adjust odds down for nonresidents. If the number of expected nonresident tags is less than the number in the cap, then the odds for residents and nonresidents is the same.
To put it another way, if the proportion of nonresident apps is lower than the cap percentage, then residents and nonresidents will have the same odds.
Nonresident Allocation
- Nonresident applicants are limited to up to 10%, but not a guaranteed 10% of the total license and/or permit quota for a hunt district. Nonresidents are only eligible for a tag when at least 10 tags are offered (deer, elk and a Hunt District level and moose, sheep, goat on a Region Level).
